Self Care & Wellness
-Siobhanie Rose Esthetics. As a person who’s struggled with adult hormonal acne, (so charming) I have been wanting to have a better practice around getting facials regularly and taking care of my skin. I have had the most relaxing, calm and comforting experiences with Siobhan (She also graciously lets me share her studio with her and is one of the founders of Velvet Petal Collective!) She offers a variety of self care treatments with membership options as well as seasonal specials. Get on it people! Book here through her website.
-Emily Veak- Hypnosis Practitioner (& My Bestie) Emily is so skilled, kind, and intuitive. There is no one better to guide you through having a deeper understanding/relationship with yourself as well as tools to move through all that life brings. She is trauma informed, queer centered and has a background in psychology. She is based in Colorado, but does virtual appointments for folks out of state. She has held me with grace and been such a loyal, sturdy and important presence in my life for nearly 15 years. She is my guard rail, my chosen sister and such a gift in this world. Book through her website here.
Massage Therapy with Ali- Do yourself a kindness and book a massage with this lovely human!
-Eno River Dental is a woman owned, beautiful dental office in Hillsborough that did NOT shame me for having missed a few cleanings. They are personable, kind, and have cute take home flosses and brushes and sparkly waters while you wait in the lobby. You can watch TV on the ceiling while they clean your chompers, they don't even mind when I turn on my guilty pleasure "Hoarders." Can not recommend them enough.
Embodied Therapies. Marty brings together complementary modalities in embodiment, empowerment, healing, opening, and transformation like myofacial release and pilates. Sign up for one of their workshops, with sliding scale options available. Or do yourself a favor and get a tattoo from them in their cozy home studio. I have literally almost fallen asleep every time Marty tattoos me because it's so relaxing! Check out their work here.
-After some less than stellar OBGYN experiences over the years, I had the most kind, trauma informed, consent based annual exam with Visha Burkhart at Chapel Hill OBGYN.If you're looking for someone who will meet you with warmth, compassion and lots of helpful information, go see her. They accept most insurance and I think Visha is still taking new patients.
